It happens to the best of us. You’re getting ready for an important video call, you join the meeting, and all you see is a blank screen or a silhouette where your face should be. Your laptop camera isn’t on. Don’t worry, this is a very common issue, and getting your camera working is usually a simple fix. Check for a Physical Camera Shutter
Many modern laptops come with a physical privacy shutter—a small plastic slider located directly above the screen. It’s a great feature for security, but it’s easy to forget it’s closed. Gently slide the cover to the side to reveal the camera lens. If your laptop has one, this is the most common and quickest fix.
Using the Keyboard Shortcut
Look closely at the top row of your keyboard, specifically the F1 through F12 keys. One of them will have a small icon of a camera, often with a line through it. This is the camera toggle key.
