You’ve just settled in with your new Acer laptop, ready to get started, but there’s one small problem: you can’t seem to find the power button. You’re not alone. With modern laptops favoring sleek, minimalist designs, the power button isn’t always in the obvious top-right corner of the keyboard anymore. It can be cleverly integrated into the chassis, making it a bit of a hide-and-seek champion.
Locating it is the first step to beginning your work or entertainment, and it’s usually simpler than it seems. Let’s look at the most common places you’ll find this essential key on your Acer device.
The Most Common Spot for the Acer Power Button
On the vast majority of Acer laptops, especially the Aspire, Swift, and TravelMate series, the power button is located in the top-right corner of the keyboard. It sits just above the backspace or delete key, often in a row with other function keys. It’s typically the same shape and size as the other keys but might have a different color or a small power symbol (a circle with a vertical line) on it.
When the Power Button is Part of the Keyboard
Some newer Acer models, like certain Swift 5 or Spin models, integrate the power button directly into the keyboard. In this design, it doubles as a function key. You’ll usually find it in the top-right position, but it looks identical to the rest of the keys. To turn the laptop on, you simply press it. To use it as a function key when the laptop is on, you might need to hold the ‘Fn’ key while pressing it. Look closely for the tiny power icon on the key’s surface.
Checking the Sides and Front Edge

What to Do if Your Laptop Still Won’t Turn On
If you’ve found the button but your laptop isn’t responding, don’t worry. First, ensure it’s charged. A completely dead battery can prevent it from powering on. Connect the AC adapter and wait a few minutes before trying again. If that doesn’t work, try a hard reset by holding down the power button for 15 seconds while the laptop is unplugged. Then, plug it back in and try to turn it on normally.
