The right method for you depends on a few key details, like whether you’re using a Microsoft account or a local account, and if you have a password reset disk ready. Let’s walk through the most effective solutions.
Using Your Microsoft Account to Regain Access
If you log into Windows with an email address, you’re using a Microsoft account. This is actually the easiest scenario for a password reset. On the login screen, click “I forgot my password” below the password field. This will open your web browser and guide you through the official Microsoft password recovery process. You’ll typically need access to your alternate email or phone number to verify your identity. Once you’ve created a new password online, use it to log into your Lenovo laptop.
